Whether Maggi or PEZ, VW or Bluna: in a constantly changing world, the design of these brands is a constant - a face that has hardly changed over the decades, a bridge between the past and the present. Heike Haupt alias Caput calls her series "Monument" - a continuation of her previous work - in which she stages these brands and the perfect advertising world associated with them as fleeting childhood memories already marked by decay.
A group of young women pose next to the Bluna logo, children ride scooters in the shadow of a giant Storck, and picnickers make themselves comfortable next to their Beetles while the VW logo towers above them. Haupt shows familiar situations here, situations that some viewers may even have experienced themselves. The figures themselves remain interchangeable due to their facelessness, which allows Haupt to broaden the view of their surroundings.
The sphere that the viewer of the images enters is the collective unconscious of a German post-war generation, in which advertising images and icons of their time emerge far more readily than the characters that surround them - the human being and his memory in the machinery of recognition that constantly revolves around itself and transcends time and space.

The old was demolished, renovated, rebuilt, designed and constructed. The fact that the Rheinauhafen was and still is a port is almost forgotten. Gerd Krebber presents the history and the old in a new guise.
